We’ve been working our way through the Twelve Days of Christmas and our True Love has now given us given us gifts on six days. Let’s do a quick review

1. Partridge in a Pear Tree – Jesus Christ

2. Two Turtledoves – Old and New Testaments

3. Three French Hens – Faith, Hope, and Charity

4. Four Calling Birds- the Four Gosoels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John)

5. Five Golden Rings – the Pentetauch (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy)

Now, we are about to find our what we are getting on Day Six.

Six Geese Alaying

Our sixth gift is actually the six days of creation. Before you say it, yes, I know there are seven days in the week (I learned the song off barney like all the other millennials). However, God rested on the Seventh Day, while he actively worked on the first six. To find the days of creation, you will find the break down in Genesis 1, while there is a deeper dive into the creation of man in Genesis 2.

Although I could go into a deeper dive into each of the days and work with your through scripture, I have already done that over on my YouTube channel. I have several videos dedicated to the creation story, and then a refresher for this series. You can check out my channel, Road Trippin’ With Rachael, to learn more.

What I love about the creation story is that whether you are a six day creationist, intelligent design, or believe that the earth is millions of years old at the end of the day, God created it all and in an order that to the human mind doesn’t make sense. I mean, he made light and dark first and it was later that the sun, moon ,and stats were made. The sea creatures came before the land creatures, and then he made man.

When it came to man, it just that be went through the same process of speaking them, male and female, into being. He made them from the ground and made them in his image, giving humankind characteristics that the animals don’t have. This is why man is to hold dominion over the animals. This doesn’t mean that they are to abuse that authority, or that we are to not give them proper care. God made us to care for his creation; we are created to be the care takers of his property or the managers of the land and animals.

At the end of creation God gave us Sabbath on that seventh day. He reminds us that we need to rest, but that we are to find that rest, comfort, peace or shalom in him.
